What happens when Britain’s favourite takeaway meets eight months of hand stitching, sewing and serious imagination? You get The Bourdon Street Chippy – Lucy Sparrow’s latest immersive exhibition where every single detail is made of felt. From battered cod and mushy peas to Cornish Sea Salt pots and chip forks, Lucy has lovingly hand-crafted it all, creating a fish and chip shop that’s equal parts nostalgic, surreal and brilliant fun.
As soon as we heard about the project, we knew we had to be part of it. Fish and chips just aren’t complete without a sprinkle of sea salt! Our iconic Cornish Sea Salt Crystals were recreated as handmade felt pots and proudly placed on Lucy’s Wall of Sauce, rubbing shoulders with British icons like Sarson’s, Heinz and HP. To see our salt up there amongst the nation’s favourites is a huge moment - proof that Cornish Sea Salt has truly earned its place as a household staple.
The reaction has been incredible, with people travelling far and wide to step inside this felt-filled chippy. Visitors have been snapping up souvenirs too, with our iconic felt Cornish Sea Salt Crystals finding a home amongst kitchen shelves across the nation.
For us, it’s more than just a bit of fun (though it’s definitely been that too!) – it’s a celebration of what makes Cornish Sea Salt special: zingy, mineral-rich flavour, naturally lower in sodium, and always the healthier choice without compromising on taste. To be part of such a unique and joyful exhibition is something we’ll be savouring for a long time to come.
