Kickstart Job Opportunities at Cornish Sea Salt

We are proudly supporting the Government’s Kickstart Scheme in Cornwall by providing paid opportunities for local young people to acquire skills and experience in the workplace by coming to work with Cornish Sea Salt in a number of departments.

As part of the Kickstart scheme, we are able to offer unique six-month roles which provide on the job training and mentoring with the opportunity to acquire additional skills and experience which can help secure a start in a chosen career. In addition to a paid 25 hour a week contract, staff benefits will be offered, including obtaining nationally recognised skills training qualifications to add to a CV and there may be opportunities for permanent employment with us. We have already successfully filled one of our Kickstart roles and currently have the following opportunities available -

Estates Maintenance Admin Officer – Focusing on planned and reactive maintenance of our premises and implementing recording systems which will support our busy maintenance team. If you are super-organised, able to think creatively and practically and are seeking experience in administration or estates management, then this will give you that opportunity.

Maintenance Procedures - A role for someone with an interest in a career in production or engineering, we are offering an opportunity to look at how we can improve our maintenance processes to reduce avoidable production downtime. This role involves working collaboratively with the machinery suppliers and our team at Gweek to devise and set up Quick Reference Guides on trouble-shooting procedures.

IT Digitalisation – We are implementing a new system to help support the distribution process within our warehouse. Working closely with our Operations Manager, this role will involve shaping the phases of the project, migrating the data, liaising with the software providers and being the point of contact for the implementation of the new system. A role for someone with an interest in a career in project management.

HR Sustainability Project – Working on elements of our HR processes which are currently paper-based, to align them with more sustainable methods of delivery. Incorporates looking at our current training, induction and policy information with a view to moving this to a digital format to improve accessibility and sustainability. A role for someone with a passion for improvement, likes detail and potentially digital design.

HR Support– Supporting and coordinating reviews on HR outputs including training, employment branding, appraisals and other specific HR activities with a view to updating and improving. An ideal role to build upon and develop an interest in HR, marketing or administration.
