Are you salt deficient?
 The crew here at Cornish Sea Salt have been in correspondence with Caduceus magazine. They have been working closely with a Doctor who has made it his business to understand the real health implications of salt to human beings.
In the latest issue, Dr David Brownstein dispels many of the myths about salt, discusses the health benefits of unrefined sea salt and also his clinical use of sea salt in treating various conditions, including hypertension.
He discusses the question of iodized salt and shows how natural sea salt helps to alkalize the body. This article is a very interesting demonstration of the first medical evidence of the health benefits using sea salt in the right diet plan. You can preview this here and it’s well worth a read!
Get Involved in the 'Real Bread Campaign'
A current tasty topic in the media is what we should expect from bread and the health benefits of both cooking and buying 'Real Bread'. In the same way you should eat good salt, pure and natural with nothing added or removed. The Real Bread Campaigners claim that 'Real Bread' has nothing to hide. The only essential ingredients of bread are: flour, water, yeast and salt that is accessible to all. One of Real Breads most prolific campaigners Tom Herbert of Hobbs House Bakery has had vast publicity for his Shepherds Loaf which contains Cornish Sea Salt. Tom says: 'The Shepherds Loaf is a celebration of what I do as a baker it is the conclusion in my quest for perfection!' So why not take a leaf from Tom's book, pick up some Cornish Sea Salt and get baking.
A recent article in , commented on the fact that our body needs salt to exist and that the movement to eliminate salt from our diets altogether is wrong. We should be aware of what type of salt we consume and how much salt processed foods contain. This really signifies the new understanding towards good salt benefitting our bodies. We are pleased to announce that we are now available in all Waitrose stores nationally as of this month!
Rick Stein has joined forces with Furniss Biscuits in creating a signature range of 3 Savoury Oat biscuits of which Cornish Sea Salt is proud to be a variant. The biscuits were created for Rick’s own shop ‘Stein’s Deli’ but have proved so popular they have gone onto launch nationally in Waitrose stores.
Rick said: “They are perfect with a Cornish Blue or Yarg Cheese, but also delicious topped with smoked Cornish mackerel, or dipped in humus. They’ve got a delightful savoury crunchiness and a great taste of baked oats.”

O2 X Awards – Entrepreneur of the Year!
 Cornish Sea Salt’s Captain, skipper and MD Tony Fraser was delighted to not only win his category as best Food & Drink business but also be named as at the national O2 X Awards held at the O2 arena this month. He was presented the award by Dragon Den’s Duncan Bannatyne.

Cocktails & Canapes
We enjoyed meeting new customers and journalists on deck for cocktails and canapés at the recent Speciality Fine Food Show. Each day we created the Mark Hix Cornish Sea Salted Pork Curls, Cornish Sea Salted rimmed Margaritas and Cornish Sea Salted Chocolate Brownies to give a flavour of just how much of a difference Cornish Sea Salt can make to food.
Great Taste Award
Cornish Sea Salt has netted its third award in a matter of months!
The Guild Of Fine Food have credited us with a gold star in The Great Taste Awards being one
of the lucky few to be picked out from a staggering 4,800 products! The awards were judged by a
panel of over 160 experts over 24 days in 5 locations around the UK.
Soil Association Approval
We are pleased to have achieved accreditation from the Soil Association as an approved food supplier making us the first English Sea Salt to achieve Soil Association Certified Product Status to date.
Royal Cornwall Show
We are over the moon to have won two awards recently for ‘Best Packaging’ ‘Best Exhibit’ presented to us by HRH Princess Anne at The Royal Cornwall Show.
